In 2022, the world watched as Russia invaded Ukraine.

Donations poured in, quickly totaling $1.5 million, and so did the stories – including this one, from a man in California whose in-laws were living in Ukraine when the war began.
“My wife's family has been directly impacted by the war in Ukraine. Her father, grandmother and uncle are presently in Ukraine, sheltering in place,” he wrote in his application for relief. “As of today, we are unsure what the plan will be tomorrow, next week or next month. If we need to provide assistance beyond what we have already done, we will be in financial hardship.”
In a matter of days, our team of grant specialists processed his application and sent him a grant – a tax-free gift to support his family during this challenging time. He quickly put it to use, paying for food, medicine and travel to get his relatives out of harm’s way.
“We have successfully relocated family members from the dangerous interior region to a “safer” town, about 30 miles from the Romanian border,” he wrote in a letter of thanks after receiving the grant. “We were able to purchase a six-month medical supply for my grand-mother-in-law, who found herself without employment or means to pay for basic life needs.”
While the future remained uncertain, the employee was thankful his company offered a program that gave his family a financial lifeline during their time of need.
“I would like to personally thank all the employees who have provided generous gifts to the E4E Relief program. From the bottom of my family’s heart, we would like to express our utmost gratitude for this grant,” he wrote.
